Selling e-Books, Music, or other personal works

For those interested in selling something they have written or created

I am working on implementing a standard procedure to ensure fairness in e-Book and other media (including music and artwork) selling by creating a plug-in for one of my sites: e-Book Front. This will allow you to sell works you have written or created while requiring at least 1,000 words or the first 3 chapters be made available to read for free, or a sample of the non-written work. This way, people will get a good idea of whether they would like to purchase the full book or media.

The plug-in I have designed makes the process totally automatic, which encourages writers to invest time in creating and distributing high-quality works. This feature is designed as fairly as possible and makes use of several standards such as CreativeCommons personal copyright.

Right now I am still testing this software, and I don't know who (if anyone) this appeals to. Hence if you've got an e-Book or other compilation or personal work you'd like to sell send me a message or just add a reply here.

I will put more effort into making this more formal if I see a real interest in this kind of option emerging here.

It's good to see some interest already. For now could anyone interested please zip the file(s) they are wanting to sell (save as a ZIP file), add their e-mail address and under Notes add a price and other addition instructions that might be required. You can submit this information on this page: http://ebookfront.com/publish/start/step3.php

It is important to also add that your username on this forum under the Notes section (e.g. Username at ExpPsi: ....).

Once the item is processed an e-mail will be sent with the purchase link. You will then be able to post a link to the purchase URL from anywhere. This MarketPlace forum is intended for such links, so it is possible to start a new thread advertising your item(s). However I think is worth putting up a mini storefront on the main site when time permits, but for now we have the MarketPlace.

chrystalpaths, from what I can tell you are wanting to offer items you would post out to people? At the moment this system works best for digital content since I can resolve any issues almost immediately, but if issues such as lost mail come up, or the wrong item arrives, it may fall into the responsibility of the site administration on this site to deal with all such issues. This would be beyond the current scope of the forums and site.

Do you sell these items on your existing site? If so, you are of course more than welcome to promote them as individual threads in this MarketPlace forum, with links to the purchase page. If you do not sell them online at the moment, I can help you set up a shopping cart on your website if you need any help setting one up.
