sigils?

Hi,

I've been studying the principles of magick but find it all quite overwhelming to digest. One principle that did strike a cord with me was the use of Sigils(?).
I have become aware that through the use of these types of symbols physical reality can be changed more flexibly. The principle of "I create my reality" is supposedly magnified as such.

Has anyone had any experiences related to what I am talking about?

It is a similar thing with Reiki, from what I know you use symbols to highlight and use correct channels of energy [Magik] It is still YOU doing the directing but the symbol acts as an external trigger. So in my experience ( I have looked at subconscious stuides and such) the use of sigils is very valid and highly useful if you can associate the sigil with the correct type of energy, hope this helps.

errmm....well for example...Cho ku rei is the scared name of the symbol of power in Reiki. It is used primarly to open and close Reki Healing sessions. Or the pentacle for protection, One of my favourite symbols of power, is electricity, cracking off my body, it usually gets my energy flowing. I would just think of something that resonates with you and use that symbol for whatever purpose. Or you could ask the universe to show you what symbols and for what purpose they serve, to show themselves to you.

Sigils are manifested energy in the form of writting. That's pretty much what a sigil is. It's just like writting and casting a spell, but all of it is put into a symbol. Also, the time it takes to create the sigil you wish to use manifests your energy into the goal of the sigil. When i learned what I did in Magick, I created a sigil known as time breaker. It took so much time to complete, that all that energy causes the symbol to be that much more powerful, and so it makes it easier as you say to complete the goal. Although it hasn't stopped time yet, it slows it greatly. The problem with sigils is the copy must be exactly the same as the origional, otherwise it is a different sigil. The easiest way to do sigil magick is to make a sigil, then photocopy it and keep a copy around when you think you'll need it. Sigil magick is fun, but it takes a lot of effort on your part.

I don't know anything about Sigils.

I do believe that reality (as defined by that which we are affecting with Magik) comprises two layers.

The deeper layer is one of abstract forms (that I unfortunately named 'thought forms' before I knew that term means many things). These forms are dimensionless and of simple shape. They are a single unbranched flow in a specific path. Most take the form of a closed loop. Most are also relatively simple with few twists, crossings, or knots. Note that while they have flow, they don't actually move (there is no time at this layer). Each form is unique.

The more superficial is that of manifest objects and materiality. The computer that I type on is of this layer. This layer is really an elaborate mutual agreement. This agreement also serves to disallow (filter out) much of greater reality. This agreement has the affect of grouping forms that are similar and assigning them an identity. For instance, all nearly circular loops with a particular offset indent on one side shall be know as 'cups'. Senses serve to select forms matching certain criteria and ignore the rest.

As such, the abstract symbols used in many metaphysical and magical practices capture part of the essence of the deeper reality.

Any resemblance to 'string theory' is purely coincidental.

I didn't know anything about Sigils until I read this post. After doing a search, I found this sigil art gallery which shows some that people have posted.

I have in the past used wards and sigils, (without knowing what they were called.) Maybe I'll take some time and post some I have used.

Sigils often show up during certain energy technques but I haven't seen them myself unless I created it with my own energy.
I have a single sigil grafted to my right hand that opens a sort of door to the conciousness of an archangel. Its up to me to learn how to communicate, as I have three other versions of this with various connections to other things. It was almost bothersome in a way to be given a awesome gift like that but not being able to use it properly.
Like having the pieces of a car but not knowing how to put it togther. Least I can connect to the energy which is a start.
